2.8 social group...

I just caught that piece about 8-10mpg......I get around 18........

Eric

I don't think mine would get that if I coasted it off a cliff... unless we are talking about oil. :D

My truck will be my play truck on day, going to gt a newer ranger for fuel econmomy. I put bigger tires on her now and that lowerd my rpms alot but I dont get on the skinny pedal anyways. Lets see what my fuel mileage is now, after I can afford to fill up the gas tank to full.

Mine is a daily driver, i am trying to get the best gas mileage out of mine as possible. My a4ld is dying and i get terrible gas mileage. I am in the process of swapping in a TK4 that i got from a parts truck i ordered, and i am swapping in some manual hubs because one of mine i am sure is broken and they are suppose to give you slightly better gas mileage. I know they are not going to give me 2-3 but if they give me 1 i would be happy.

My 2.8 and A4LD are now sitting on a pallet. :icon_twisted:

What you doing with them?

Dunno about the tranny, I noticed towards the end something was leaving red in the snow otherwise it still worked fine, it will probably go to junk. The 2.8 might live on in a tractor. We have a parts tractor that doesn't have a motor, I think it would be kind of fun to romp around with. I think with a open breather tube (like a tractor) it would still go for quite awhile. Originally the tractor had about 50hp at the flywheel, so whatever the 2.8 is down to will still perk it up.

I have got a newer duraspark distributor for it, and a 1.08 2150 carb that needs rebuilt, so I might as well have fun with it while it lasts. It might be my next project after I get the Ranger running again. :icon_welder:

So I guess I am not quite out of the 2.8 club yet. :icon_bounceblue:

Well the 2.8 had 115hp from the factory so you will have twice the power.

It doesn't have 115 anymore, probably somwhere around 80.

But I could stick it on the dyno and know exactly what it is putting out at the PTO... figuring that it ate 10-15hp on the factory engine.

I gotta say, after the duraspark swap, it feels like it has so much power now. 115hp doesn't seem like that much but it moves the B2 ok.

It did run a lot better after the Duraspark, made the feedback thing look pretty stupid.

I have no doubt it if was up to snuff it would be a fine motor for a stock RBV sized rig.

So what size jets would be the best to run to get decent gas mileage and not take away any performance?

Ok, i got a set of 49E and 45E jets out of a stock carb, i have a motorcraft 2100 on my truck now. Will the sets from the 2150 fit in the 2100? And what does the E mean after the jet size number?

I have no clue what the E means. I would say that the jets from a 2150 would fit in a 2100.
