2.8 social group...

I almost have to make it shift out of 1st, if i dont try to make it shift outta first it will eventually at around 3k and above on the tach.

I am thinking about picking up a carb kit from the parts store. Do you guys know which brand is better, Gp Sorensen (From autozone) or Walker (from Oreilys)?

I shop at autozone because of the rewards program. Both kits have the same parts. Mine from autozone has worked great for me.

Well i got the Carb rebuild kit and threw it on today. The truck started right up and ran better than it did :yahoo:

Well after filling up 3 times and calculating mileage from all of them, mine maxes out at 10mpg no matter how I drive her. Now I just need to change the oil.

While on the subject of oil, what do you all run in your 2.8? I run the Pennzoil Highmileage 10w-30 with a fram filter. Should have bought the tough gard one.

I ran the cheapest oil with a Motorcraft filter.

The cheapest oil because it slobbered it all over anway and the Motorcraft filter because Wal-Mart has them cheap... and they are good.

In my other truck it was Motorcraft oil and filter.

I run a motorcraft filter and Penzoil High Mileage 5w-30.

10w 30 from Napa & a Napa Gold oil filter...:headbang:

What have you guys done to your rides modification wise to only get 10mpg?

Eric

The factory feedback setup just hardwired to run (PO swapped engines) For a long time I didn't expect the engine to last as long as it did so I didn't want to sink a bunch of money in it with a new carb and dizzy.

I got tired of waiting for it to die at around the 7 year mark and durasparked it. Durasparking didn't help milage any (it did run a lot better) and I had just found a non-feedback carb when I gutted the powertrain (it actually came on a 302 I got) It wasn't worth it to me to rebuild the carb for no longer than the engine was going to be in the truck.

The engine was shot... that probably didn't help anything either. It hasn't been my dd since 2003, more or less a toy so milage isn't that big of a thing to me.

That just how its been since I durasparked it. Mine never did have the factory feedback stuff on it due to it isnt the original engine in my truck. But things that may not be helping are 6inches of suspension lift (its like a wind sail), D30 SAS (live at all times axle), 32 inch M/T tires on 3.73 gears (which my mileage improved by 2 mpg with that somehow), guess lowering my engine rpms did that. But now Im running 5w-30 oil instead of 10w-30, to maybe help a bit, but its still high mileage oil.

I mean sure if I fine tuned the duraspark setup, it may do better. All I know is when I go to start the truck, it does just that and runs great.

Only thing that is not stock on my truck is the duraspark setup, which when i swapped to i thought it would help the 9mpg, but alas it didn't. I bought all new parts for it except for a carb which i got ebay, i just rebuilt the crab so il see if that helps.

My a4ld is dieing so i am sure that doesn't help, i was going to go work on taking out a tk4 i have in my parts truck, but after 2 weeks of 65* weather, it snowed today and dropped to 10* :annoyed:

I guess mine is doing pretty good. I get about 9 and it runs like crap. I think if i replace the Valve Guide seals it will do alot better.
