2.8 liter TBI swap

As for spring perches, I think I'll just buy a set. It would be faster but much safer then me making a set.

Well went ahead and got the rear brake line fixed.

Also started up the motor to check how the brakes felt, and man do they fell great, not mushy, and with the gas pedal now attached it went and idled at 800 rpm and stayed there. We'll see how it idles after I get the exhuast system hooked up. One thing though is that when you rev. it up, it want to stay at the higher rpm's for 3-5 seconds before dropping back down. My dad says not to worry about it but does anybody else think its a problem? Just to add the motor was not warmed up.

More to come soon.

what is the 2.8 tbi out of?
and also, yes, i do have a sploder, me and my dad are workin on it. but this stupid crank sensor is a pretty decent hickup in the process. we were gonna make a qiuck profit but i dunno how thats gonna goo...
nice lines! haha. getting er doone!

The TBI unit is out of a 1984 ford Thunder Bird 3.8 liter. Basiclly the write-up is in the tech. section, thats whee we got the idea of doing this from. In the procees of changing them one of the fittings need an adaptor, the one that comes off the piece that feds them all. Anyways 15 bucks later they are fixed and I have officaly spent $600 on this project so far. Ouch!!! But you cant take money with you to the grave.

Profit? Are you selling it or what? I did know that was where the cranksensor was. You could put a dizzy in there mabey duraspark LOL. Thats just my mind at wondering.

its not a lack of pieces, its a lack of knowledge. we'll get it figured, we have well over 600 in our sploder just in minor repairs to bring it back to mint... maybe we'll keep it, its a really nice truck, no rust :shok: and low miles. plus its 4x4 so its a step up from what i got.

ok well since you hounded me so much i promise to get something done tomorrow. i'll find some mirrors and put em on. i know where theres one good one, just need the other...

As for my truck, I'll post pictures of my exhaust and what I need to hook up and you will see why its not a direct hook up today. Basicly some of the exhaust parts are going from a LLT warranty to no warranty. Hope the muffler ends rot out faster so I can get a new one for free, supposivly, I'll get a picture of that too. Other then that the exhaust system is only 5 years old.

Well here they are what I need to do.

You can see where I'm going to hook the Y pipe to the CAT but need to get rid of the tube that was conected to the 2.3 manifold first.

The hole in my Y-pipe, its small but wont take it long to get bigger.

My 5 year old muffler rotting out. the other end looks the same.

And while I was on the ground, I said what the heck, I'll take a picture of the underside of the engine.

little things take forever. nice bottom.:D

working 8-5 sucks. no friken scrap yards are open after 5. so hunting for parts is a real task, or weekend adventure

I might have some exhaust parts you need to finish this up left over from my 2.9L project (actually it's an entire exhaust system :)). I may swoop by my old garage and see, if you are interested. It is a bit of a drive to get here from Lafayette though. **But it is a "fake dual" system, single in dual out Dynomax muffler.

Thank Psycopete but I dont have the money to buy it or anyway of driving there, the only vehicle I can drive is my motorcycle. The only way I have been getting around to get parts for my truck is my dad. My truck isn't even insured to drive on the road. So after im done with this it will still be sitting. Sucks I've put so much work into it not to be able to drive it but its given me something to do.

Rangers look great with duals nomatter if they are fake or not.

But the good news is im getting the welder back today, may post pics. of it here and in the fab. section.
Bad news for the Ranger but still good news for me is I'm not going to be able to work on it much this weekend, going camping, but theres always Monday if the weather holds out, suppose to rain.

As for you jay, I only junkyard on the weekends, unless I have to go during the week, which I have done. But staying open till 5pm is stupid. What parts are you getting?

More to come soon.
