2.8 liter TBI swap

Thank Psycopete but I dont have the money to buy it or anyway of driving there, the only vehicle I can drive is my motorcycle. The only way I have been getting around to get parts for my truck is my dad. My truck isn't even insured to drive on the road. So after im done with this it will still be sitting. Sucks I've put so much work into it not to be able to drive it but its given me something to do.

Rangers look great with duals nomatter if they are fake or not.

But the good news is im getting the welder back today, may post pics. of it here and in the fab. section.
Bad news for the Ranger but still good news for me is I'm not going to be able to work on it much this weekend, going camping, but theres always Monday if the weather holds out, suppose to rain.

As for you jay, I only junkyard on the weekends, unless I have to go during the week, which I have done. But staying open till 5pm is stupid. What parts are you getting?

More to come soon.
what parts am i getting? anything ranger i can find! both my trucks need tlc and im gonna try my best to give it to them!
i think i might dig into my savings to get this thing in the safety place so i can start the body work next month. i wanna be driving it by winter. so can you NEVER drive your truck on the roads???
i certainly hope this isn't the case cause that wouldn't be good at all.

I can drive it if I had the money to buy insurance and plates but it can if I had all that.

Will do.

As for me well got the exhaust on and man is there a difference in noise!!!!

After that checked the timing and was dead on first try, didn't have to mess with it. Drives (dont tell) nice and smoothly, starts right up, works absolutly great, recommend anybody with a 2.8 to do this swap.

Heres some pictures of the exhaust.

The gap to fix.

The gap filled. Ya it isn't pretty but it there and it works.

I dont know how stiff they are or how stiff I need. I'll be playing this by eye and ear. All I need is hangers, shackles, perches, and steering linkage. Those are the major things. I've read that you can put 2wd f-150 leaves on the rear of a ranger and they bolt up. might put these on the rear and vise versa if they fit.

I'm getting closer though. Need to get my 2.3 on craigs list and get it sold.

sweet. im jealous. im getting a better welding helmet today, so i might do some welding practice, and start planning my build more. im curious about that whole 2wd f150 springs thing, cause springs are the only things that keep me from hauling more. you saw a yard of dirt, imagine a serious load. ie my dads work trailer, etc. so far my ranger hasn't let me down in the towing department but i'd like to beef it up. lookin forward to progress. im not getting much done im wakeboarding this weekend!:icon_bounceblue:

Well after doing measurments, the leaves I bought are 52.5 inches eye to eye and my rangers are 57 eye to eye so I dont know if these are f-150 I bought but oh well guess they wont work on my rear but they will do for my SAS.

haha i wasn't serious, but seriously, if you draw me a pic of what you want, i will totally make em for ya, and send em down, at my cost, just so this build gets finished, cause i can REALLY appreciate the frustration of hangups.

Thats my problem I dont know the size of what I need. The most major part that I have to get is the Jeep Cherokee steering linkage. Other then that the rest of the stuff is no biggy. But if I need shackles, then I will give you a shout.:headbang: After that its perches and hangers. Going to get my 2.3 put on craigs list tonight so that I can get it sold and get my SAS started.

My dad doubts me doing a SAS:annoyed: and asks how am I going to do this or that but I'm like you wont know until you research and get to that point. Basiclly asking why do it and I'm like why not, got the parts for next to nothing. :icon_thumby:

But as soon as I get the front put in I have to get the rear put in. The hardest part will be hooking up the driveshaft on the rear.:icon_confused:
