Just traded and got a 06 2.3 ranger.
Precious owner was messing around and snapped a conrod. The block looks to be intact. Would it be worth it to attempt a rebuild or new engine.

Personally, time means nothing to me I’m just looking to do what’s cheapest excluding the cost of tools.

I would do junkyard engine from a pull a part or upull it. No idea whats cheaper though

The connecting rod broke? No other damage? I would probably remove that one rod and replace just it. I know that there is balancing issues but it's going to be cheapest and will probably run fine for many tens of thousands of miles. I'm not sure if it's possible to r and r from the pan side but if you can it saves doing a head gasket.

I can't see how that could break while running and have no other damage. That's impressive.

+1

I wouldn't be surprised it if just hasn't been noticed. If nothing else it isn't a light injury, it broke for a reason.

I would find another engine.
