I bought a 1998 ranger/mazda b series off marketplace. Pretty much right away ran into problems, the spedo, interior light and transmission stopped working all very close together. Transmssion is automatic and it would just rev higher and higher instead of shifting properly. I took it to a transmission place and they diagnosed a speed sensor problem, this was replaced but transmisson was still locking in low gear. Now they told me it is the general electric model which they took out to verify parts number and get a replacement. They told me they aren't 100% sure that that computer part is what's causing the issue because it has no visible problems and there is one other part it could be.
I'm looking for some advice on what I should do now, do I let them replace the gem model, or do I take the truck back and look into doing it myself? I thought this would be a really easy issue and I didn't mind paying for a shop to do it, but now Im out way more money than I anticipated and my truck still doesn't drive. Its also been almost a month that they have had the truck and no answer as to what exactly the problem is. If anyone has dealt with this issue before and was able to fix it relatively easily please let me know!
