I am putting a 1996 Explorer engine in a 1996 ranger splash and the explorer engine does not have a distributor in it it has some kind of pick-up thing that goes in the hole.My question is is that thing timed or can i just drop it in the hole and it just sends a signal and if it is timed how do i time it correctly.Another question i have is i am using a c-4 transmission and in the explorer harness there is a transmission connector is it going to be ok to just leave that unplugged to start the motor or am i going to have to do something to the harness for the nuetral safety or to run it. any information would be great.Thanks:icon_confused:

Your truck is electronic. Time to step up to the times, but it's way easier than you think. Using the c4 can be done, but is way easier to use the stock 4R70W trans. It will require getting a tuner and reprogramming the ECU to delete the trans. Read the first post in my build thread. It will answer a lot of the questions you have as I have done the same thing you are attempting..
