1994 347/c4 build -project- rebel rouser

Yea the knuckle swap is a must . I lost 2 pins (1 different times ) and that's my reason . The calipers and knuckles on our 94 stock setup wears out and becomes loose even with new pins . And you get a dual piston caliper with the bolt in compared to the single on our 94's if I remember right . The shifter is a ratchet for sure and b&m ,just don't know which Model yet . When I went to the jy last weekend I looked in ever car and truck for a floor shifter with center console or some kinda shroud . After a couple [emoji482] and some [emoji260] we gave up looking after no real good matches . he said he would give me his since he wants to put a bench seat back in his 68 c10 and go back to column shift , so his son can set In the middle . If you do get that expo diff grab the leafs also (better ride I feel ) and a extra shock mount /plate like I got . Then no weld .

I just wanna go fast [emoji48]

Have been reading on it and def will upgrade when I get there. For the rear, Can u elaborate on the extra shock mount/ plate for the no welding ? I was reading that I needed to move the leaf spring perches and shock mounts to do the swap??

I wish I had a pick n pull near me, I'd be spending some time there getting these goodies. My local junkyard will hopefully have some ish laying around.

Ok so the stock ranger leafs set above the axle with shock mounts welded to the axle . On the explorers , the axle sets below the leafs ( where the drop happens with the swap) . The plate that sets above your leafs right now on the ranger gets swapped below now . Those same plates hold the shock at its lower mounting point instead of the axle like the ranger . The shocks are located I. The same places just different mount down low . So when you look at the explorer axle you will see how the shocks lay out down below . Well in order to keep the ranger shocks In The stock placement you need to grab one extra plate from either the driver side or the passenger . So when you rotate the plate Around the shock mount part of the plate is in he right place . No welding at all . There is a thread about it . But not many people I guess understand it or are going 4x4 style and need the lift from welding the mounts in the right place . I hope I explained that all right lol . I think I got pics from my swap in my thread possibly

Also, I found some slotted n drilled rotors n ceramic pads on ebay for like 120. I'll go they ways when I get my beams and front end ish.

Man I remember them days of shoveling snow around the hood for money as a kid and drifts be taller then me lol. My dad works for mdot in Michigan for the last 30 plus yrs and love these time of the year for all its over time . I remember as a kid working 3rd shift with him on his weekends (divorced parents ) and helping load the salt with those big ass front loaders . So crazy being I. A big ol truck with a huge blow hauling ass down the roads/highways lol .

Looking good as always brotha [emoji1360][emoji482]

Man on man, can I tell u how much I dislike the snow? Only thing fun about it is taking the jeep out in it. I didn't want it to sit under all that snow so I dug it out, at least I can get to doing small things and prepping for the bigger projects.

I called my local junk yard, they usually have or get what I need for decent prices.
I have them gathering a few parts:

95 steering knuckles, comes with brakes set up. $65 each side
98-99 super cab ranger 1 pc aluminum drivr shaft. $125
96 explorer rear end. 200. 290 with leaf springs intact.

I am also in the next few weeks ordering up the djm lowering beams, slotted rotors for front n rear with hawk pads of some sort. I am also getting tires for the cobra rims.

So here's my question to the 3 ppl following, what shocks to use with the lowered stance? I seen jdm references their shocks for the set up but is there any alternatives?

Got a few weeks to stock pile parts so I can tear into it once snows gone....probably mid march.

Right now I have djm in all 4 corners . They are the white ones that come with there kit . I know they have a setup from that I believe . On my ss I have belltech Which is another good company . I would get the leafs with the expo diff , it stiffened it up with the extra leaf . Remember to ask for a extra leaf plAte for one side of they can get it so the shocks bolt in . If not I got the part number to order from ford which is like $30

Fun update. So it's sunny n upper 30s here today. I got over my rents n took the truck out for a ride. In doing so, I found a couple of newer stangs n vette sitting in local Wendy's, with one of the crew just taking off in front of where I am about to merge on to the highway. It's loud n clean so I finally catch up to him and his buddy. It's an 09, sounded sick n asked him if he was headed up on 80, sure nuff ;) heading up to the high way my truck will hold about 2600 rpm at 65 mph. From there I got plenty to run it seems. So the dude takes off and to be honest with no kick down cable set up, he got out In front fast but I caught up and we cruised along for a few to let traffic open up. by no means racing but spirited driving. I try not to danger anyone when I'm messing around. So it opens up and he takes off, but hell, the delux held its own and snapped right there with him pulling to whatever till we let off ( my 85 mph speedo was pegged) Was a fun lil jaunt and I guess they were digging the delux cuz they took some video of me ripping past them as I was getting over to exit. :)
In other news, the fun driving let me feel some good vibrations...and not the song lol. I feel like it's coming from the carrier bearing, it's only at higher speeds. Could also be the old a/t tires tho. Either way, in a few weeks it'll have new shoes n drive shaft.
Anyways, I'm feeling more confident in the truck as I get more miles on it. I certainly have not been easy on it and it's holding up so far, so good news there.
Really looking fwd to spring to get it to the track for some passes.
Also, am working on the blower motor assembly so I can get some heat out of this b. I'll have updates as I make progress on it.
That's all for now, o n o

Awesome Awesome, I love to punch it on the highway too. Too much fun, I still have to change my rear end and my transmission but I been busy remodeling my house.

^^84, it was alot of fun for sure. Driving a slow jeep everyday make it feel that much faster. hahaha

So I washed it up yesterday since it hit 54 up here : ) and took it for about 100 miles around my area. Everything was right on, feeling good about it. It does eat gas tho haha.

My dad and I retarded the timing on it alil more and it made a huge difference in performance. I'm pretty pleased with where it's at right now. Ran a ton better on yesterday's ride.

Also got to working on my blower motor:
