1994 347/c4 build -project- rebel rouser

Not much of an update but I did get the ish done over the weekend. It's getting cold so I am happy to be where I am at this point. Hoping to be in part aquiring mode by end of the month.

But, moving fwd I got the exhuast hanged and fluids topped. Went over things and got it decent for street and took it out.
On the drive, it's breaking up alil at wot. It is shifting smooth thru the gears in D.
My shifter is not working 100% as its got a shit feel in every gear. Let me rephrase, it's working, ratcheting and all but has a shit feel in park, drive and for some reason it won't go down to 1. So, I'm going to give adjusting it some more a chance before tossing it in favor of a hurst quarter stick. Seems the shifter is very finicky being it's a 3 speed vs 4 and it is for both.
The Trans came back sweet as hell from the shop. Only issue I'm having is the dipstick tube is not seating in the trans and causing a small leak. I put a new o ring on it and dabbed some rtv on it so well see how that works.

Take a look: Watch "Delux start up, part 2" on YouTube

Using an o-ring and RTV never works out for me. I hope the adjustments work for you!

I put a new o ring on it that seemed to fit pretty tight. I did get an extra thinner o ring that I thought about using at the flare lip on the dipstick that sets against the case but didnt. Instead I smeared some black rtv. I may need to reseal it with an oil resistant rtv since I am not sure the black stuff i used is on the oil resistant side.:/

Also not sure the cold Temps let that ish dry well.

Well see.

The RTV will always fail if it's applied to anything oily. It also will dislodge a o-ring from it's ideal position and/or give oil a place to slip by. A o-ring works best when applied with a soapy solution to allow it to seat properly, then when that water dries the seal is undamaged and has a good seal.

the video looks and sounds great. By the way, why you have the fuel pressure so high? I have mine set at 4.5psi you will get better mpg that way.
Also who's old hot rod is by your truck? I likey!:yahoo:

Thanks for the heads up on soapy solution irkillroy . I did apply some oil to the o ring so it would slide down n seat nicely. The rtv I used was above the o ring, around where the flare would sit against the case. I'll try again if it's still leaking this weekend

Thanks broskie!!. The FPR was set to about 7psi when I installed it. Notice the blue marks are almost lined up from out of the box. I will adjust it this weekend when I get to playing around. It really needs to be tuned so that is one of my next priorities since I feel it's lacking power and definitely breaking up on the throttle. new set of plugs and some playing around n hoping it'll be a beast.

Thanks for the advice along the way broskies.

on another note, pretty sure the current battery is on its way out. Went over to start it today and tho its been cold n not run since sunday, It wouldn't turn it over.
I'll be looking at a optima red top when I pull the trigger as I had one in my old jeep and it worked well....thinking, might put it in my jeep and run my jeep battery in the ranger.
I also pretty sure I found the seats I want to use for when I get to interior stuff.

Check em out, corbeau moabs:

They are under 500 for the pair so I think that is the way to go when I get there.....for today's thoughts anyways haha

Also, the trans dipstick dripping looks to have stopped since the pan I had under the truck only had a few drops in it from what dripped sunday. Hopefully that's good to go.

That is a pretty rat rod. Does your dad watch roadkill episodes on youtube? it is an awesome show. I'm thinking about rat rodding my galaxie.

I'll let him know u think its pretty ;) lol.
In all honesty, it's rat but not rat rod like not comfortable to drive n dangerous on road. It's rather well suited for cruising with the fam with all the room in there.

I dig the rat style and think it's just kind of the old school way of hot rodding. That's what's fun, repurposeing stuff to work where u want and funtion for what u need. Lets ppl be creative and not have to worry about shiny paint job n expensive parts to have a cool car.

He got the fun cruiser too:

Your battery probably did lose it's cold cranking amps. Optima's are expensive but if you can afford them go for it.

Man I could only wish one day. Hes getting ready to sell it so he can figure out retirement, along with my mom's vette n just keep the dodge to play with Ill miss it for sure. Super fun experiance driving. Carroll shelby is an icon dearly missed.

I was able to adjust the shifter linkage and I think I got it right after reading some more and playing with it in in drive rather than park. Got it to go down to 1 and ratchet thru 3 so I think it's good. Couldn't confirm cuz It wouldn't start.
The battery took and held a good charge it's the starter that locked up.
Quick search and looks like it'll get a powermaster high torq mini starter next weekend.

That's all till then.
