I replaced lock cylinder and ignition switch on my 1995 Ranger, but the engine will engine will not turn off. I have to pop the clutch to stop it running and disconnect the negative terminal or else it runs down the battery. I know there is a lot of knowledge out there, so what can I try next?

Thanks,

Did it work properly before you fixed it?

Make sure the actual switch is firmly mounted and the actuating rod is in place.

I’ve had the rod in the steering column break, especially in the tilt wheel trucks, when it’s broken it will still start and run, just won’t shut off because the key can’t pull it back but it will push the broken rod forward.
