1994 347/c4 build -project- rebel rouser

I was able to adjust the shifter linkage and I think I got it right after reading some more and playing with it in in drive rather than park. Got it to go down to 1 and ratchet thru 3 so I think it's good. Couldn't confirm cuz It wouldn't start.
The battery took and held a good charge it's the starter that locked up.
Quick search and looks like it'll get a powermaster high torq mini starter next weekend.

That's all till then.

Why pay that much for a mini starter, when you can buy a starter from a 94-up mustang that is a high torq mini starter. I paid maybe $56 for it on rockauto.com

Thank goodness I post this shit up so u can toss out these money saving options.[emoji106] [emoji3]
Thanks mang. I did call AZ and they had a few in stock from 40 -80 bucks. 91 foxbody starter. Not sure it's the same but I'll check. I'll have it in next weekend.

Morning update....and it's non material but...thinking this morning n talking to my dad. I need to check my neutral safety switch on my shifter. When I set it up, it was set using gm park instead of ford. Since I re did that yesterday, it no longer goes all the way up to gm park position. This might be causing my starting ssue......hopefully since it wont cost anything.
Till I get to checking that....

It's the 94-up models that have the high torq mini starters on rockauto.com they are $57.99 plus shipping. The 79-93 mustangs have the heavy fat weak starters.
Have you see if it will start in Neutral? If it starts in neutral and not in park then it might need adjustment.

Thanks broskie, much appreciated. I didn't get the chance to check, raining and at work today.. gotta put ot in so I can afford to play ;)

Thanks for checking in mang! What kind of parts are u sourcing for the new set up?
I'm hoping the new adjustments works but won't be able to check till the weekend. I read up on the nss for the shifter and it doesn't mention anything about the positions needing to be changed for either trans set up. I'm leaning towards a shot starter. I'll bypass the nss to check n go from there.
Weather is back to normal January Temps and we got our first real dusting of snow today so progress may slow down. Supposed to snow this weekend too :/

So I got to working on the truck today for a few. I checked the wires on the nss, alil loose so I crimped them down tight and gave it a go. Started up. So, battery ok, starter ok......scratching my head. Guess it was the wires. I let it warm up and my pops comes out. First words out his mouth, things running rich, I smell gas soon as I came out side.
I said ok, we need to tune it still, lower the fpr and mess with carb..blah blah.
It warmed up and I took it out for a spin.
Trans is working mint. Shifter is now working correctly :) Pretty good ride, broke up alil bit while on it a few times and it feels Lacking what it had first few starts n rides.
I get back n park it. Go to restart it and all sorts of noise n shit. No start. We messed with the timing before I pulled the trans a few weeks back so he's thinking it's starter kick back from to much timing. I was late n cold so I left it at that. I started to research this and is definitely a possibility.
Also, there's still a small drip on trans fluid. I can manage this one alil later as its nothing major at all. Looks like the dipstick seal still and my return line had a small drip as I noticed some fluid running down the line. Probably need to re tape my fitting n tighten it down.
I'm goin to mess with it tomorrow.

Ok so I got back at it today.
Went and gave it a crank and it started right up. I let it run for a lil bit to warm up and we backed the timing down alil before turning it off. Tried to restart it and all sorts of noise n tough start.
So at this point, the starter sounds like it's getting chewed up I figured before I damaged the flexplate teeth, get a new starter. Ordered that up from advanced auto online, saved 30% and picked it up at my local store. Got home and swapped it out. Upon getting the old one out, the bolts had loosed up a good amount. :/ that was def not helping the situation so I doug around for some new longer bolts n lock washers to help keep the new one from Loosening up. Got that done and fired it up. Ish started right up. :) we let it warm up and back the timing down a tad more before taking it out for a ride.
My dad was excited about it today and wanted to drive it so, off he went :D

Watch "Pops first delux drive" on YouTube
Pops first delux drive: http://youtu.be/ywkv-MDt7bo

Filled it up with some premo and brought it home.
I went over some ish and topped off the antifreeze before heading back out for a lap down the highway. I wanted to see how it actually drove in real time since it's only been around a 3 mile loop around town.
Here's what I could manage :

Watch "First time on highway" on YouTube
First time on highway: http://youtu.be/j7_aOgo9oNU

So for today, I am pretty pleased with how it's running and driving. I still want to tune it further to get it maxed out.
I'll be changing out plugs n wires next weekend and playing with it from there.

Also, any suggestion on brake pads n rotors for up front? Am needing something better as soon as possible.
I know ebay usually good place to look for slotted rotors n such. Ill check it out for time being.

Thanks broskie! I was smiling when an older Chevelle got next to me in town with his family in the car and gave ME a thumbs up, made me [emoji2] [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji2]

What's next up on the list to do? We all know it never ends as long as there is money available. Haha.

Next is brakes and suspension. Along with all new ball joints and tires so I can mount cobra wheels I picked up.
Going to do a 3/4 drop on it. I'll build the new I beams out of the truck to make for an easier swap so I may look for used set of knuckles/hubs as well. Am looking for slotted rotors and some kind of hawk pad to help stopping. The rear will receive a 96ish explore rear end swap.
Shocks will be stockish Monroe or something from the lps.

If you look for new knuckles , grab the 95-97 knuckles with bolt in brake calipers . I did the swap when I Did the ibeams and drop a few years ago . The expo rear is a must . With all the lil upgrades you get doing the swap . Looking really good there brotha . Love the highway run . Especially you revving on that black f150 with lights or whatever on top lol . My coworker is giving me a Ratchet shifter like yours actually . So I've been looking at your setup and a few others online . Keep up the good work . Need to update mine thread

It's not the best but def cleaner Than previously and will hold over till I get new carpet and seats figured out, total cost of 40 bucks, included a new steering cover also.

Started it up and let it warm up, it's cold n snowing up here by me so a quick run around town to confirm its running good and I was done for the day.

Broskie, thanks for the heads up on the knuckles, will def upgrade while in there.
That f150 was actually, I am pretty sure, a brand new svt raptor. Hella sweet ride.
What kind of shifter are u getting? The ratchet working is sweet. I showed my pops how it worked yesterday when he was driving. 1-2, 2-3 shifts are perfect.
Not sure how u have it currently but in my truck, the hole in the tunnel caused it to be to flimsy to make the shifter have a sold feel. Def use a pc of sheet metal to reinforce where it gets bolted down to.
