1993 ranger upgrades (engine, interior, exterior or anything else)

Looking for any kind of upgrades I could do... Anything that could add mpg, power or pure style lol.... I want to put in an after market cold air intake. I've heard people say it's a bad idea because you just suck in hot air, and the stock system is a CAI. How ever if I simply make my stock system a little larger, remove the unnecessary bends and change out to a better filter, would that give me more power?

Even if you put a biger filter on and open up the air box, you're still going to have restrictions with the post in the MAF housing, stuff live PCV breathers, IAT sensors, and the throttle body itself. You can replace the hosing for a cleaner look if you want, but you're never going to have a perfectly smooth intake tract. I cleaned mine up a bit by going to a slightly bigger tube and by opening up and polishing the cast marks in the MAF, but really, your engine can only breathe so much.

What are the specs on your Ranger anyways? 2.3? 3.0? 4.0? You don't give much to go on...

It's a 4.0 L automatic, completely stock... Sorry I should have put that in, and I know it will never be a perfect air flow... I'm just looking for something less restricting, especially since next step is a new exhaust system.
