1992 ford ranger 2wd 3.0, looking to do an engine swap from a 2001 ford ranger 4.0, the 01 has pats but the 92 dose not have have pats system any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Why did you choose an 01 donor? Nothing matches for that swap. PATS, fuel system, electrical, transmission…

Not saying it can’t be done because it has been done on here but I would consider this to be an advanced level swap. The easy 4.0 swap is to stick with a 1990-1994 donor. That is as close to plug n play as possible, you just need engine, trans, computer and wiring.

If you’re after power, a 95-97 Explorer donor with a 5.0 is the easiest performance swap.

I got the 01 4.0 engine and transmission from a friend, also have the wiring harness that plugs into the pcm , he got rid of the truck before I could get anything else including the PCM, Thanks

How's your wiring skills?

Manual or automatic transmission? That's gonna make a big difference here.

Automatic Transmission, I'm pretty good with wiring and reading a meter, Thanks

do a pats delete and make the harness on the engine side stand alone.

get a fuel line kit from evil energy and have fun.

Can I use Forscan to delete pats?. not sure what wires I would need to to do a stand alone, I do have the wires still attach to the engine, I also have a electrical wiring book from ford just not sure what wires, Thanks

it is possible to mitigate some systems with forscan.

it is not a specific system wide thing to disable pats via forscan. i do not know if your setup can do that. i just pay for that because it is worth it.

even some tuners depending on actual system can have issues with it.

from there, its easier to trouble shoot any issues to get running.

there is no magic with these eec5 or 4 systems to get them running.

powering your starter is one thing.

powering the ecm is one thing.

and the fuel system being powered is another thing.

the variance is specifically what is available for wiring.

Now I got a better understanding, Thank you!
