I recently just swapped out my 2.9 from my 91 Ranger and put in a 4.0 that came from a 93 Explorer I did get the engine wiring harness and ECU and headlight harness and all other electrical except for the dash harness so I'm having trouble combining the two if that makes any sense if anybody could please help me I think my problem would be on the driver side firewall under the hood

I thought combination was supposed to be plug and play? Can you post pics of the connectors you have or a list of what doesn't work?

Welcome to TRS :)

Good page to Bookmark here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/

This is our Tech Library section, has lots of "been there/done that" articles on Rangers
Click on the "Engines & Fuel" section
Scroll down to "V6 engine swaps" there will be a few articles on the wiring for these swaps

Rangers and Bronco II's(B2's) have pretty much the same wiring by year, so what applies to one applies to the other
Explorers can be different but very very similar

@hellgoat71 ,

I expect your issue is routing the Explorer's wire harness in the Ranger's chassis. The Explorer PCM is mounted in the cab, passenger side kick panel while the 2nd Gen Ranger PCM is on the driver's side and as I understand it, in the engine bay near the firewall. In other words they are laid out completely different.

Explorer kept the ECU in the passenger footwell thru 94. Ranger changed in 93.

91 - 93 should be pretty close to plug and play if you swap the ecu harness, engine harness, and power distribution harness. You may have to swap a few wires on the large bulkhead plug on the drivers side firewall.

What isn't working?
