1989 Ranger 2.9 no crank no start.


Try to find the problem and fix the original wire. Just my personal opinion but doing that stuff drives me more nuts then just fixing it right lol
I agree but I have one hand that works so taking wiring harnesses apart is a little rough

To the OP: Did you replace the electrical ignition switch, where the wiring harness plugs in, or did you replace the mechanical ignition switch where the key goes?

If in fact the start circuit is shorted to the ignition circuit, which fits your symptom description, about the only place that that can even occur, is at the electrical ignition switch.
