1984 Skamper 072S

Nice... did we miss them?

Back at picking on the poor trailer last night:

Fully converted to the 2wd standard!

I bounced in it as hard as I could, never felt the 4wd shocks bottom out so I am just going to run it.

For bouncing the camper in and out of the barn it will be fine. For general trailer use I will never load it that heavy.

We have fan suckage!

I also finally got around to making a pigtail to plug the camper into the truck. I just used the 7pin trailer connector on the back of the truck. I need to run a constant 12v to the connector. It won't handle the furnace but the truck battery won't either. I should be able to run a little 1156 bulb or three for awhile though.

And most of the clearance lights work. I have power everywhere but the sockets are so worn the bulbs don't have much pressure to make contact.

Pretty much every one that I haven't replaced with LED I can make go off or on by looking at the housing sternly. It doesn't take much to make them come and go. Only the right rear and the right two side lights are currently LED, you can tell the output difference between them and the incandescent ones in the pic of the rear.

I have 8 to replace and they will all be LED and I will be done dealing them, I also need to move the front right side light to the back. I figured they would be white LED's with whatever lens but the LED's are colored and the red LED easily overpowers the amber lens.

I also need to figure out something better for a step, the ladder knocked one of the covers off one of my license plate lamps.

For a step to get in to the trailer I'm thinking that a fabed step or two for your hitch receiver would work well. It would be removable for travel and be a solid mounting point so that it cant fall over while using it or damaging your plate light housings again.

Just my 2 cents take it for what it is worth.

I used my hitch hauler for a step when I had it.

My lights are bad like that too. I replaced a bunch of them when I first got it with new incandescent ones, and even those went to pot within a year. So then I started replacing with LEDs as I notice them not lit up. I've said it already, but I think you'll be very happy you put that fan in. They make an incredible difference.

I'm living in my popup for a while now in Florida while in-between houses, and broke down and bought a portable AC. The fan didn't cut it for this Northerner when it's 85 degrees at night with 99 percent humidity. It's nice after a rain to open up and suck some new air in though. After two weeks I think I'm starting to acclimate a little though. I don't start sweating immediately when I open the door now; I'm calling that a win.

It's a really bad time to be looking for a house. Inflation... Interest rates... home shortages... ugh!

I look almost daily and get discouraged and just walk away from the computer....

The place beside my parents just went up for sale- its on a backroad, 2 miles from a minor town, 15 miles from the nearest major town.

It's also 2800sqft with 6 acres and a 5 car garage - up north. I would completely expect that price.

Zillow rated my house (2100 sqft on a quarter acre) with an attached 2 car garage $347k. Paid 143k for it 11 years ago and thought that was too high

Zillow’s says mine is worth over $600k... 1500 sq ft, 2.5 acres, single car garage... I’m accepting the first offer over $700k and I’ll live in my new RV until the market crashes.

And you get to pay that hefty NJ real estate penalty (10%?) when you sell if you don't reinvest it in NJ real estate.
"The New Jersey Exit Tax requires you to withhold either 8.97 percent of the profit/capital gain you make on the sale of your home or 2 percent of the total selling price, whichever is higher.Sep 21, 2021"

There’s way more to it than that...

You only pay the tax on the profit from the sale and it’s not charged on the first $500k because it was my primary residence for the last 2 years.
Then the money is held in escrow until you pay your taxes at the end of the year, most of it gets returned to you when you file your taxes.
It’s really just to make sure you don’t skip town and not pay your property taxes.
