1984 Skamper 072S

There’s way more to it than that...

You only pay the tax on the profit from the sale and it’s not charged on the first $500k because it was my primary residence for the last 2 years.
Then the money is held in escrow until you pay your taxes at the end of the year, most of it gets returned to you when you file your taxes.
It’s really just to make sure you don’t skip town and not pay your property taxes.
You still live there and so going to take your word on this. I just remember it was put in place to discourage you from taking your real estate profit out of state and invest it elsewhere. Both my sisters live there. I left when Florio taxed toilet paper (paper products), though that was repealed shortly after.

Well... its getting hot now and I have other things occupying my weekends, so we put it away for awhile.

Step in height is freaky low now, really don't need a thing to get into it.

If it were me, I'd remove the ball hitch and put a nonskid strip on the step.

I actually got a receiver hitch to bolt on to the bumper so when I get a step I could just swap it between the truck and trailer.

Pretty sure I am going to return it, don't see the need now that I lowered the trailer.

So, the ball is going.

IF I was smart I would just find a clean LWB 2wd first Gen, plop it in there and just leave it. So much horsing around backing the trailer thru the barn yard and into the barn. It went right into the barn with tons of clearance though.

So.... how many Red Bulls to you drink a day? Having a toddler usually wears a person out. You always have tons of energy like a toddler.

I only oogle over their airplanes, never had a drop.

It took my dad an hour and a half to unload the camper, get the camper out of the truck, onto the trailer, get the vent cover off, put everything back into the camper, trim the tree that leafed out and drooped way down and then push it into the barn. And then I had to air the tires back up, put the tailgate back on and put all the tools away after he left.

Mom got the real work out, her and the kid were chasing chickens and the cat around in his little tikes car with the push handle on the back while he laughed hysterically.

Watching "Planes Trains and Automobiles" and I started freaking out, I think I scared my wife.

And then I found a pic on the internet even.

I found a Skamper!

My eyes may decide me, but that looks like a larger l model on back of a full-size Ford. Looks like an old shot too.

..........

Of course it is. You said what you were watching, I assumed it was the new show, I want even thinking about the old movie.

Yeah, mine is a 072S for a 7' compact truck. The one in the movie is a 080S for a 8' bed fullsize.

Kinda neat to see though, the double s stripes are the giveaway. This brochure is from 86, stripes are the same as my 84. I suspect the one in the movie may be a little older.

My wife managed to snag a couple free camping nights at a county park we need to get used up, its been really nice so might as well this weekend. Then the weekend after next our usual haunt (the only place we have taken the Skamper) is having a Halloween thing and she managed to get a site for that so we can double dip a bit.

So we pull the Skamper out of the barn.

Find a level spot.

Deploy landing gear

Look ma, no wheels

Back under it, remove the landing gear and tie it down

"Camper Ranger" is born!

I was going to get some gas, at $0.27 I can hold out until the prices get more reasonable.

More awesome photos of that Ranger.

I'm leaving tomorrow for Cass, WV.

See you there.

Got off to a late start Friday night.

Picked out a good looking spot by candlelight, backed in... yeah thats good enough lol.

My wife had to work late, she rolled in around 10. So we secured the door, plan is an intruder will trip on the bed and fall on the dog which will then turn everybody's world upside down.

Pretty quiet weekend, it was funny 2/3 of the campers there are slide ins

Labs gotta lab...

They had a nice paved path around the pond/lake, my son was all wound up to do a lap first thing on our bikes.

20+ years ago we held many family reunions in this shelter.

Did some fishing

My bike was a trooper on its first camping trip, no complaints on the thing and it made getting around a lot nicer.

Dogs were just bonkers...

Then it got hot... with huricane winds. I grilled freaking awesome burgers, mine honest to god blew off the spatula as I was taking it off the grill. My wife said she would just split hers with Oliver no biggie. We had Oliver's cut up on a plate and went to get chips and his blew away with the plate. And while we were trying to process that the next gust took her half on a bun on the plate. Oliver and I split the last surviving one and we ran to town and picked something up for my wife. It also wadded up our patriotic canopy, not sure I will be able to save it.

Followed by more laps around the lake.

And then grilled pizza for supper

Today we wasn't in a huge hurry to get out of there... more bike laps around the lake in between getting things packed up.

Next weekend, Halloween Spoocatcular at the local State Park campground...

I think your pizza needs more cheese.
