Well here it is, picked it up a few months ago and havent done much to it, put about 40 miles total on it. Needs a good amount of work, mostly due to neglect in upkeep, brakes, fluids, ect, some corrosion love, a full rewire, some plumbing and repair a leaking c4 tail housing.

as they say...pics or it never happened...

the motor...

the rear end...

it had a casting in it of RF-F07W-AA
that lead me to decoding it to a 8.8 from a 1990 ford ranger. it doesnt have a id tag as the previous owner tossed it so i will need to count the pinion rotations to wheel rotations when i get the truck jacked up to do the brakes.

and the start of the frame restoration, i am hitting the frame down with my grinder and a wire wheel and then hitting it with some of the krylon rust primer. i plan to strip the primer in a few weeks when i order the rust bullet paint so i can lay that down, then top coat it with some black spray paint just so i dont have a steel gray frame.

finished the frame up. ordered a new gas tank and shocks. need to order the fuel lines and some other things for the back before i drop the bed back on.

nice job on the tank:icon_thumby:

The engine looks like a factory install, very organized.

i had planned to make a vee tank(dual saddles) so i could get 40 plus gallons under my stock bed.... i made it out of cardboard at one point. it was too tight
for comfort and required the exhaust to be run outside the rail, but i had plans for a flat bed and figured its deck height into using a more conventional tank. i was worried about damaging that much custom work offroad and pussed out and went with a plastic tank from a b series van and settled for 34 gallons. the b tank is cool because i can add to its capacity easy enough from its bottom load filler setup...but thats also a potential weak point as well obviously.

your feed setup was in my plans but tighter. looking at how yours turned out i think setting up two oem tanks with a medium sized box connector could easily accomplish what i attempted initially. i am just leery of welding up old tanks.

got my tiny little brain rethinking stuff now.:D

except i want 50 gallons.....its a tough order for oem framerails.

Yeah the new tank was about 130 from lmc truck

a plastic tank in the end was an easy choice...just not sure if it was the right one....

here i was trying to figure out how to get it in there....found these today

i ended up compromising a bit but made a place for it. it cut into my planned battery storage. buying, modifying, and connecting two new tanks is still pretty cheap....when i called around for a custom tank to my specs it was over 1300 bux in alum and 1800 in stainless...mild was almost a 1000....so no way i was having it done. when the time comes to revisit this i will consider it. the plastic repair kits are not as good as the metel ones.

Mine was done solely for performance. I didn't want to install a fuel cell as it may be a failure in some states for the annual safety inspection.

So pulled my starter to find 24 e7te ca 7h12.

Therefore my block is a 87 out of a truck casted on July 12, 1987.

It is topped off with a set of world heads, edlebrock intake, a holley carb and a mallory ignition.

No idea of the can is roller or flat, just going off castings and what I can see. This truck and block has been hot rodded a little to much.

85 was the beginning year of the roller block so you more or less have a roller block.

Te blocks used roller and tappets randomly until 91 when they went all roller.

I'm happy I got a roller block and it's also a 91. Converted it HO with a cam swap out of an 85 mustang.
