06 Frame Repairs

If anyone is in the area and needs cab parts or interior parts, I'll let you at it. Just toss me a few bucks. I'm in north central PA, near Mansfield. DM me for meetup.

I am keeping:

Axles
Engine
Transmission
Transfer case
Driveshaft
Wheels
Passenger door
Door strikers
Radiator
Condenser
Hood

The rest can freely be taken. The husk is going back to the original owner to be scrapped.

Never thought I would, but I found my old account, wooo. I'll continue with this account now.

This is the real reason southerners hate the north...

As a southerner... No, it definitely isn't, but it doesn't help. It does make for cheap part/donor vehicles though.

I got the bed and the u bolts off the parts truck, as well as the shocks and driveshaft. Unfortunately the 3.73 rear in the parts truck has the same rust damage as the 4.10, however it's only rusted down 1/32, vs the 5/32 on the 4.10.

Is it rusted away, or is that just where those axles neck down. The tubes aren't the same diameter the whole width, they get smaller inboard of the axle perches IIRC.

Do yourself a favor and oil that frame every couple years. Stay away from most of the paints. POR15 might be alright but anything else is a moisture trap. I've learned this the hard way long term. I now use Crown Oil on all of my Rangers and the new to me Jeep.

Gotta say though, with that wood floor and pieced together shed, I like yer style bud.

My clapped out garage is getting there. That's a solid $80 hobofreight tarp, because my roof was a colander lol.

I dub this garage "The Shanty House".

It's actually rusted down. That's where the sticker was. I removed a ton of rust to inspect it.

My parts axle isn't much better, but definitely has more tube wall left. At least enough to where I call it safe for highway and light towing. (I had a senior mechanical engineer look at it for me too).

I was thinking about it. But I'm going down to bare metal and treating with rust converter, then hitting it with a heavy black paint.

I will absolutely be doing yearly frame oil jobs, but I live 30min from the NY border. They use heavy salt on the roads. Luckily here in PA we use primarily calcium, but that has its own issues.

Thankfully rangers use c channel frames and not tube frames lol.

And thanks! I like the garage, not love. I'm pouring a concrete pad this year for a real garage next year. This is a temp setup, but nicer than anything else I've ever had.

Removed the gas tank, rear strap is messed up. Prob just going to weld it and reinstall.

I just got a Chief needle scaler from hobo freight, replacing my $40 cheapo from Advanced Auto that spilled its guts.
Heres a before condition.

After 5min of work, my old one would have taken 30min to do this. No rust holes, nice and thick metal too
