I recently put in my "new" console after finishing the paint job. Was going to swap my seats for Explorer seats, but I had issues swapping the tracks. Instead I did the 60/40 conversion which was easier than I thought it would be.

Here are all the pics i remembered to take.

I don't remember whose idea it was, but I ran into a post where the rear of the console was filled in and painted. Looked good so I decided to give it a try. Now I have to work on sewing a new shift boot.

Its amazing how much change I found once I took the seats out.

Nice work!
I've been thinking about doing this, looking at the last pic a question occurred to me; what about the pass side air bag switch? do most people relocate it, or, does the console fit over it or do you just remove it and set it free to pursue a life of religious fulfillment?

Just wondering...

You'll have to remove the plastic housing the airbag switch sits in. Gotta do that in order to locate the two guide holes the console frame will mount to. I just tucked mine up and to the left. I didn't need it. I'm sure that if you wanted to relocate it you'd be able to.

I'm really enjoying the console.

Here's the more detailed write up I followed:
