My friend Editor Steve Turner from Fastest Street Car Magazine sent me these Ford Ranger photos from the 2019 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

Ford of course had the new 2019 Ford Ranger on display promoting it as an adventure vehicle, but the upcoming 2020 Ford Bronco was a no-show. I had thought that since the 2019 Ford Ranger debuted at the 2018 NAIAS, the 2020 Ford Bronco would debut at the 2019 NAIAS. I guess the wait continues.

Thanks again Steve for the photos :icon_thumby:

Bumper on that black and silver truck is sweet!

Also like the full build on the black truck

I don't think they had that many of any one model there last year, they must really be pushing them. The bumper on the silver one looks really sharp.

Hard to believe that has been a year already...

First pic, cool color. Looks orange-ish red to me.

I'm far more excited about the possibility of the Troller coming to the US. I just hope Ford doesn't make it too ugly and remove all of the cool options it already has. I'd only want a 2 door.

Watching Good Morning America this morning and they opened with a segment about the NAIAS. It started with mention of the Ford Bronco making a comeback and even said it was basically OJ's fault that Ford stopped production.

Damn shame that it isn't even there...

OJ's fault? IIRC White Ford Bronco sales went up after that whole thing.

The bronco died 2 years after OJ. I doubt he killed it. My guess is when the Expedition came out it wasnt called bronco so soccor moms wouldnt associate it with "one of those jeep things"

Weird one of the trucks has the "locked for your safety" sticker and some have the windows down and/or people in them. Others have the windows up but obscured by the mirrors.

That is my fear for the Midlands Auto Show in two weeks, I pay to get in and I still can't try one on. :annoyed:

How about we just put the Bronco on the list of things OJ killed, but we just can't prove it in a court of law. :icon_rofl:

I'm glad Ford didn't carry on the Bronco name in the form of the Expedition.

Basically the Bronco II became a 4-door and was renamed Explorer.

The 1st gen expediton would of been worthy of the bronco name, IMO. It was still the same formula ford used on the bronc since 78, it just had 4 doors. It was still an F150 thru and thru (minus the rear coils).

Basically the Bronco II became a 4-door and was renamed Explorer.
I think the BII name would of lasted atleast till the demise of the big bronco had the BII not earned the unfair repuation it ended up with.

By the time the explorer earned that rep it was on sales fire and it was to risky for ford to change it.

Plus, it had to fit into the "E" name scheme. You know, Explorer, Expedition, Ehf-150

True.

I had a couple 1st gen expys. A 97 and a 98, both 4wd with the 5.4 hauling them around and 3.73 gears. Stock for stock i think they could wheel right with a stock 80-96 bronco. The 78/79s had a solid front axle, and the 400, so id rate them better for wheelin.

The expys obviously towed better, really the only thing a bronco had on them would of been 0-60 times, atleast with a 351W powered one.
