In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I would imagine that a mountain bike would also be a pretty good option. Fast, no fuel required, fairly good on or off road, easy to carry over imposible obstacles. E bike even better if you can have charging panels
You can carry more in a bike than on your back.

Airless tires would be nice. Not something I’ve seen for bike though.

When I was a kid, my dad was tired of buying intertubes because I would constatly puncture them. So he brought home a 24" O-ring for some piece of equipment at his job. It fit perfectly on my BMX style bike rim. I never had to replace another tube.

That's a big o-ring.

Great on the road, not so much on a dirt trail.

I'll have to disagree on that. I lived out in the woods on a dirt road. Not a paved road or patch of concrete/asphalt for miles.
The rear tire wore out before that o-ring was done.

Don't remeber honestly, I was around 12 years old. I don't think I was too concerned with the weight at the time, as long as it worked. It worked.

I’m talking about traction on things other than hard pack. Like mud and snow. A slick tread tire will just spin.

Tennis balls inside a dirtbike tire works alright if your feeling exceptionally cheap&greasy lol
