So just curious as to the general applicability of this (windshield interchange).

The LMC listing is pretty noncommmital about the early Rangers, but suggests something changed in 1993 (Gen 3) and also implies single and supercab were the same windshieldwise in earlier years.

http://www.lmctruck.com/features/fr/FR9H4.htm

A quick check of car-part.com seems to support this.

So can anyone provide confirmation/contradiction/exceptions to the following:

Windshield fitment is universal (ignoring tint option for simplicity)for:

Ranger 1983-88 (Gen 1) single and supercab.

Ranger 1989-92 (Gen 2) single and supercab

Bronco II 198? to 199?

Sorry if this is a repetitive question - somebody started a sticky on Ranger part interchange awhile ago but I can't find it now here or in the tech section.

Windshield and all glass(whole cab from firewall to rear wall for that matter) is interchangeable on Rangers from 83 to 92, with obvious limitations (you can't put a super cab on a regular cab frame).

Windshield is interchangeable on Ranger for 93 up to at least 97, possibly to end of production.

Windshield for Bronco II is the same as Ranger 1984 to 1990.

Regular vs super cab should not affect much of anything that sits in front of the rear edge of the door.

How hard is it to install a windshield? I'm not totally illiterate on this, I know how to handle glass as I've worked on many commercial jobs with it, mostly moving it, not installing, but I do know to keep it vertical, or fully supported. Also a cousin used to build show cars and i recall him speaking of a guy breaking a windshield he'd ask him to hold for a minute, but the guy layed it over and it broke, the only one in the whole wide world. He also spoke of laying it over onto cushions, and removing them with a piano wire.
I'm just wondering can i replace mine if I'm able to avoid any major catastrophe, and how best to go about it ?

Also, are the ones in B-series Mazda also interchangeable with Ranger?

I'm already working with a glass company to replace mine, just one problem being they're not sure it will have the original tinting around the edges. Mine has it all the way around, about 3" across the top and an inch or so all other sides. If we run into problems I'm just exploring my options
