the jeep community seems to swear by the 4.7 as long as you "take care of it". your are right tho, they have a laundry list of issues. when i first tore this thing apart, i looked into various "recommended" engine swaps. there are none, just more shitty 4.7's guess its impossible to put a 4.0 i6 into a 4.7 jeep and make everything run. 318/360, no they dont recommend that. << i was hopeful i would find a nest full of threads on the 318/360 swap. there arent even many ls swap threads. but i atleast know there is enough aftermarket for the ls engines that i can make that one work.I've worked on my buddies 3.7 wrangler more times than I care to admit. Both the 3.7 and 4.7 are among the biggest piles of garbage ever produced and Chrysler just shoved the god awful disasters in everything for years with no other options. Overheat one to the slightest degree and your tearing it apart or throwing it in a crusher. Impossible to repair alot of basic stuff without pulling heads, intake, or other unnecessary items just to get to things. They burn oil, leak, rot, wiring is atrocious, computers fail hysterically frequency, crack, explode... I'd rather have a 2.9 then a 3.7 or 4.7.
