What do you take to the Pull Yard?

So I put together a list of all your stuff. It's pretty sizeable, but manageable. Of course you can decide what to leave home...or not. I read the restrictions for the pull yard that I frequent and they mention no torches - nothing about grinders or cut-offs so I'll have to get a clarification. Anyway, here's the list. Whaddya think? Anything I should add?

Obviously, you can combine things like using a multi-tip driver set, a Leatherman (use mine all the time - the most indispensable tool in our junk drawer).

Brake cleaner works as well or better than wasp spray and you can use it to clean your hands too!

I usually go with a purpose so I have an idea of what tools I'll need for the part(s) I'm getting. I keep a running list of parts I want in my phone so I always have it, and if its something where I can possibly use the part from multiple-years of vehicle I'll take a photo to help ID (electrical connectors, interior parts, etc.,.

If I'm just looking I take a 3/8" socket set (the $30 Dewalt Costco set), some screwdrivers turned into variously bent pry bars, multi-head screwdriver, pliers and wire cutters. And I usually take a drill-driver because I'm lazy. I'll also usually put some more tools in my truck (1/2" sockets, breaker bar, etc.,) so they're in the parking lot if I find something I wasn't looking for.

I have an old cross-body bag I carry it all in, but I've thought about putting everything in an old backpack. It's several blocks of walking to the Ford section in the yards I visit so carrying a heavy tool box is out of the question for me. They have wheelbarrow-type carts but they're super heavy and the ground is pretty uneven, plus it can be hard to maneuver them between rows, so I don't take one unless I'm getting a part I don't want to carry out.

I've used a backpack as a tool bag too. Frees both hands for carrying parts. I also usually know what I'm going for and have already removed the part from my car/truck, so I have a good idea of how to pull it in the yard. I recently went, "just to browse" and found some "rare to me" fender gap filler/trim for the Chevy Square body dually I'm working on. I've been looking for these for over a year and got lucky.

There is one thing (well two) that I have with when I go anywhere to do any work. I have a set in the garage... a set in my truck tool bag and a set in my maintenance kit. There cheap enough to have more then one set.

The weight of my toolbox isn't a huge issue. As soon as I get in the door at the yard, the bag goes in a wheelbarrow. Easy.

Looks like a fairly complete list. I usually take some penetrating lube and something to drink (water or gatoraid or both). I’ll have to rummage through my stuff and see if anything else jumps out at me.

I have, to some degree, replaced my breaker bar with something a little more impressive. I got my hands on an off-brand 3/4” ratchet with an extendable handle and put a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter on it. It’s heavy, but fairly compact with the handle collapsed and it’s essentially a ratcheting breaker bar. Have to see if I can find a pic

Don't gotta lug around tools, lay in the mud, deal with bugs, and deal with removing a part twice.

I quite enjoy making someone else do my dirty grunt work for me.

It's like having a band of minions.. minions you don't need to talk to.. or smell.. or worry about usurping you and stealing your wenches.. OR your wrenches.
