Drove it for an hour or so away from home. Let it stretch its legs a bit, got 'er up to 65 and my shifter knob started to rattle. Time to find a new one.
I know you like cheap and easy fixes, the knob on my '97 was extremely loose when I got it, I don't think it was even on when I picked it up... I put a strip of duct tape over the stub and pushed the knob back on, it's worked for over a year... I got the idea in my '90 (or was it the '91 explorer?) since the only thing I had was some dried up old used duct tape sitting around and that worked for a couple years until I went to an aftermarket knob...

My credo
I poop in the furnace.
The shift knob on something I owned (can't remeber) kept coming loose, I chewed a big wad of fruit by the foot up and mushed it into the knob then threaded it back on. Worked like a charm.

Giving my truck more money than it deserves.
On the hunt for a d35 ttb drive shaft and I came across this sorry sight. She was hidden all the way in the back at the edge of the junk yard. :(

So I did the glove test and I can see coolant on the exhaust manifold on the drivers side . Pretty sure the overheating , at the very least blew one head gasket . Not sure I am going to invest another few k into this truck as I already have five other vehicles .
Can you guys give me an idea what I can sell this truck for as is ? Everything on the truck works and the body and frame are in good shape . Thanks for your input !

Figure blue book minus a couple grand for a crate motor plus a couple grand to pay someone to swap and then take a little more off just for the PITA of it... if it runs and drives well enough to know the trans is any good and that it goes down the road ok.

The engine being bad will scare many away.

My new interior, just couldn't stand the black and gray burlap anymore. Katzkin leather. So much better.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Installed some Ram Mount components to hold my "Google Maps navigation device" and an action camera. I was getting tired of the phone floating around the passenger seat or floor.

Pressure washed the engine bay of the '90 tonight, gonna let it dry out over night then move it into the shop tomorrow, then start working on some of the numerous oil leaks! I think I know where a handful of them are since I don't think I used thread sealant on the cam pulley bolt or crank sensor bolts or the rear power steering bracket bolt that's drilled/tapped into the block... Pressure washed because it was GROSS, it was in the shop for a couple days, opened the hood and didn't wanna touch it...

Nearly wrecked the red one on the way to work this morning because it went from 70 and sunny yesterday to low 30s and snow today. I didn’t lock the hubs in before leaving for work and hit a slick patch that had me using the WHOLE road and spinning the wheel like some drift racing fiend. I did lock the hubs in after that. Even caught it all on video, I had the phone stuck to the dash and hit record only a little bit before because I was like look at this ridiculousness. Then the truck goes this way and that and oh ship...

My credo
Never put off ‘til tomorrow what you can put off indefinitely
I drove the red 97 to go look at bushes and trees. I didn’t get my injunction on a technicality, but when I fix it I can submit again. Good news is the city got wind of it & all of a sudden made a better offer. One way or the other it should be over and all the construction finished in a month or two. So I went to look at bushes and trees and some landscape stones etc. to fix it if they finish fixing it.

in the court room the other day we caught the judge in a stone faced lie in front of ABC news. He wasn’t a happy camper. When I caught him, I wound it into the conversation 11 more times in an hour before we quit for the day. That may have been the reason for the better offer. Still not enough, but it’s moving in the right direction.

I vote we go back to hanging people in the town square if they kill somebody, and we cut off their hand if they steal. All the politicians would look like beach balls!

Scraped the snow and ice off the 2011. Welcome to PA and second winter.

I’ll start gathering supplies for the biannual oil changes and preventative maintenance this weekend.
