What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Not loaded up up like yesterday but worked it still.

Ended up hauling off 7 loads of brush from the bosses property. I think its time to invest in a bigger little trailer. Maybe a 6x10 or 6x12. This little 5x7 tilt is handy but sucks for this kind of work.

So FedEx showed up this morning with transmission parts. So I popped the valve body off and got to work. Been trying to video as much as possible but it’s been hard because I’m not really set up to video my work. So it’s taking longer than it should because I’m trying to document the work as much as possible. Got probably 2/3 of the valve body done. Also had a delay because I was set up outside and was getting to work on it then started hearing thunder and it started sprinkling so I packed it all up and relocated to dad’s wood shop, which was a less than convenient arrangement. Of course, it never actually rained here, but I’m betting it would have if I wouldn’t have relocated.

Fiberglass spring? I was not aware there was such a thing. Mine has the 3 spring pack but they’re so worn out the section in front of the axle actually has some negative arch. The only reason the ride height is so high is because it has 2.5” blocks in the rear. I bought it that way and for $400 im not complaining to bad lol. Thats an interesting setup though, if i needed something to keep the axle wrap under control i would probably just build a set of slappers.

Yeah, fiberglass leafs have been around for a while. The first ones I heard of were in Corvettes. They even put them in sideways to boot.

I also had a ‘87 chevy astro van that used a single fiberglass leaf (per side) on its rear suspension.

Finally got the red red ranger back together and brought it home.

Forgot to plug in one of the of sensors, now thr plug is melted, there is an exhaust leak for sure. The dinger goes ding all the time regardless of if the key is in or not, so I broke something for sure.

Seat cover is on, steering, ball joints and rear springs are greased. Also checked fluids on the axles, tcase and trans.

Installed the steering box and new low pressure line. I still need to test drive it but it's to humid at the moment.

Replaced one of the gas struts on my toolbox. They only had 80lb 10.5” struts so i only did 1. Weight is about perfect.

Was going to do an oil change on the '97 since I didn't remember when I did it last... I checked the level and it was still clean and in the middle so apparently it was somewhat recent? Said screw it and started screwing around with other stuff... at least now I have oil and a filter for a month from now

I used it to transport some stuff from the garage to the shop, I gotta cut out a plate to put the chain pots in my floor, it has to be one plate not two like I was hoping would work... whatever, it's just a 10"x10" piece of 1/4" plate that I have to put a 2" hole in the middle of...
