Guessing it's not a 4.0L?

What are your plans for it?

If it's a 4.0L, then you've already got the good axles (the rear 8.8" has 28 spline shafts, but will still be good for 35" tall tires).

Auto > manual hubs is one of the very 1st upgrades you should do.

Check through the sticky posts right at the top here for other upgrades and info. There's lots of stuff available for them (differential lockers, deeper gears, stronger u-joint & hub upgrades, etc.). :icon_thumby:

Unless you know what you plan on doin with the truck i think your set for now. If you want a little stronger in the rear then just swap in an explorer 8.8, as for the front unless you want to do a sas, the dana 35 is as good as she gets.

If you want a SAS you should try and find a early ford bronco with a Dana 44, they are close the the same width as your ranger axles. You could also go with a full width Dana44 or even a Dana 60, but the tires would stick out like crazy and most likely not street leagal where you are.

As for lockers you cant put them in the front axle and they make it so both tires spin not just one.

Guessing that was that a typo? Lots of guys here have lockers up front (myself included).

However an early Bronco Dana44 is a downgrade unless you also swap it's shafts out, then it's about the same strength as your D35 (you would be getting bigger brakes though).
IMO, if you're gonna go through the trouble to SAS it, the D60 is the best axle to use, as it offers much more significant gains over the D35 (which already shares many of it's parts with D44s anyway).

The D35 is absolutely nothing to sneeze at. I'd hang onto it at least until you figure out what it is you want to do with your truck.

I'd say your set for now..... go manual hubs, your gears depends on your tire size, I wouldn't even do lockers if your not offroading.... if you offroad but not hardcore lock the rear only, it'll make a world of difference.

How do you not know what you want to do with the truck? lol? what have you done with past trucks?

Just check out the tech library, there are a few things in there that can give you an idea of what will need to be done.
