Can I weld up my LAD rear diff? I dont see why not but I just never seen it before so I thought Id ask before I do it kind of thing, I have a Mud Bog I am hoping to Make it to next weekend and would really enjoy the locker by then and welding is my only option considering the time/costs.:icon_twisted:

yes,but remove the clutches first.use lots of weld around the side gears,if this is done well enough you dont need the spider gears at all.you will still need the cross pin to hold the axles in position for the c-clips.try not to concentrate too much heat in one spot for too long, better yet preheat the whole unit with a torch.i've done many this way and never had a failure.edit-i should probably also point out that the carrier must be removed from the diff and the ring gear removed first.it's a good idea to remove the bearings too,and dont try to speed up the cooling with water or oil-let it cool slowly, then reassemble.
