Weird fog today in NYC

it was all of nj, i live in central jersey and it was crazy fog.

yeah i figured it was an average foggy day until i got upstairs and saw that it was just hanging low like that

usually when we get a fog it's dense all the way through - never so low. i'm only on the 35th story

my buddy is a pilot by profession and passion, he said after seeing that picture with the weather conditions this morning in the area there should have been NO FOG whatsoever, he told me when i showed him we woulda paid to have gotten to fly over that

Ive encountered fog like that out on the lakes. Really crazy when your on the deck and you cant see the deck your standing on, yet you go 20 more feet up into the pilothouse and you can see the rock passage that your going through. Also is really eary when you hear the fog horn from a ship, (The Badger) and out of the fog bank comes this black and white ship. Its the movie Ghost Ship in real life.

Temperature inversion. Foggy and 35 degrees in the low lands, sunny and 60 in the mountains. Common here.
