I have a 88 Bronco II, A4LD trans, stuck in Drive. We were wheeling all day and was coming up a pretty steep hill when I had to stop and back down, went to shift to reverse, and couldn't move the shifter.
First we thought it was the linkage, but it worked fine, so we loosed the linkage where everything moved freely, and by hand we moved the lever on the side of the transmission back and forth through all the positions, included where neutral and reverse should be however, the truck would not come out of drive.
If its something easy like something in the valvebody stuck, I'll fix it and keep running the trans, but if its something else, I do have all the parts to swap to a 5-speed.
