thrush welded on 3.0

it doesnt sound as good as other peoples. others sound more deep toned. any one know why?

i think he may have it on backwards and the exhaust pipe isn't long enough to give it any tone

a thrush welded wit no cats sounds real good on my v6 4.0. i know the laws are enforced in some places but wit out those cats its the good traditional sound deep and loud but not to much.

I know it sounds weird....but a muffler needs time to "break" in.

I personally have a thrush welded muffler on my 3.0 and it took a trip to wisconsin and back to get a nice deep tone and a real good sound at about 3K. It barely made a sound before that trip. It's not overly loud and doesn't resonate in the cab that much....but that's the way I like it. I'd compare the thrush welded to a flowmaster super44.

i deff. dont have it on backwords. lol. and i heard others where they dump out befor the rear wheel and they sound better. maybe i do need to break it in. i just put it on.

He's not crazy.
I'e seen brand new motorcycle mufflers get a little deeper tone once they get a little carbon in them.

you need a longer tailpipe. the pipe you have is too short.

so what i should do it have it go out and above the axle and out behind the rear tire? dont they sell flexible pipe so i dont need to buy one nebt exactly for it?

and where can i buy just the tail pipe from the muffler back pre bent for a ranger? can i go to like advance and get it or auto zone?

and are you guys sure it will make it deeper and louder. i dont want to spend 50 bucks on something that i don't need.

just get a couple pieces of scrap pipe, heck even try going to a junk yard and see whats there. yes the length of your tailpipe makes a big diff, i recently put a magnaflow xl muffler on my 95 4.3 blazer, i had mine exit exactly where yours is and it sounded like crap. went out over the axle on behind the rear tire and it sounds alot better. like a v8 at idle.
