Hey man. You never know what you are capable of untill you HAVE TO!

combat is a rough business.....right & wrong quickly lose out to...whatever it takes to get back home....

now....just imagine what the Soldiers who didn't make it back had to go thru...

They get the Honor!

(I just get to speak for them...which is an honor)

Question of the day is 30-06 bolt action rifle or a .40 cal handgun. Decisions decisions.

why a .30-06? it's a great hunting round, but you can kill stuff dead just as easy with smaller, less recoiling rounds.

Why not a 30-06 is the better question?? Sure if I'm hunting deer in the woods my 30-30 is fine. But when I'm out in fields and pastures or hunting down in the delta... I like knowing I can drop a deer at 450 yards no problem. It's not like you lose meat from a 30-06 compared to a 270 or 30-30. Not if you shoot it right! Recoil? Now being scared of a little recoil is foolish... Within reason-- anything you can shoot just hold it tight and there are no worries. I don't notice any more recoil from my savage 110 30-06 than from my 30-30. Guess I just don't think about it... It's not gonna hurt ya. Point is every gun has it's pros and cons but the 30-06 offers you a good distance, relatively cheap, with enough knockdown for big game hunts if I ever get the chance to go..

You wanna talk about big bullets and knock down-- I have a 300 weatherby. Now that's a lot of powder and a heck of a bullet.

My np29 came in the mail earlier this week, here's a picture.
Not sure about the extended mag release. Range time is need before I throw it away.
I got some 30mm rings as well so I will hopefully be sighting in my kel-tec su16 with falcon 1.5-5x scope, later in the day.

if'n you don't have a handgun....it be fun & different shooting one !!!!

(I don't have a handgun....ifn i did...it would be a 1800's replica....to go along with my 1894 Winchester 30-30 (1972 year model)...also for fun...

(I did enuff serious shooting in Nam to last me the rest O' my life...the lasst time I went in the woods target practicing, my friend who came with me, asked me "Is everything O.K,?"......I was having a flashback at the moment...watching 2 enemy soldiers running from tree to tree....ain't War wonderful!!!))

I have a 9mm but finding 9mm ammo here is like trying to find a white guy in the guy that lives there.

I have always wanted a bolt action rifle plus it would be more than enough for anything I would hunt here. I have plans to go back down to NM for a little elk hunting next yr.

For elk and deer get a 30-06 you won't regret it. For deer a 270 is a fun gun to shoot.

my uncle just got back from CO a week or so ago. he killed an 800 pound elk, big old mofo. they brought back 340 pounds of meat from it. gave some to the 2 guides they were with and he gave a bunch to friends and family here. it's pretty good, tastes like deer IMO.

they reintroduced them into the mountains here in NC but i havent been yet. apparently they were everywhere up there until the settlers killed them off. you have to draw for a tag though, so it's hard.
