Can we just shoot dangerranger for even suggesting that? LOL Government Motors can't build anything right. What makes you think they can finally produce a diesel?

If you want to do a drop in for a Ranger go German, Jap or Korean if you can't find a 4BT like everyone is lusting after. Mercedes M602 is a strong engine if you can find one.

I must say though I don't quite get why you all have such a puppy love for diesels.

because since the 80's, we have had about 5 or 6 diesels that were under 5.9L....you guys on the other hand have had way more.

What different from putting a German, Jap, Korean or cummins under the hood of a ranger rather then a GM? At least GM is American.

Because they don't make junk. :icon_rofl:

Seriously though, is GM actually making it or is Izuzu made like the Duramax?

My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
you can get the cow piss at truck stops in bulk. its not $8 a gallon...... and unfortunately its here to stay. It allows the manufacturers to run a hotter more powerful engine while meeting ever stricter emission requirements.

Show me a 400 hp/800ft/lb tq 7.3L IDI or powerstroke that would get 20 mpg in 2013 F350 4x4 fatback and still meet emission requirements.

say what you want about it but when I can pull the dip stick on a detroit DD15 that has 2500 miles since its last oil change and the oil is still clean like in a gas engine and get over 9 mpg @ 55 mph how is that a bad thing?

ZZZZZZActly.... And you can bet American dollars on it that GM doesn't build it in country. Sort of like Volt batteries.

Speaking of the wonderful Volt... How come I don't hear any of you dying to mod one of those power plants into your Ranger? :icon_idea:

They were all supposedly experimental leases that were supposed to be turned back into Ford to be crushed when the term was up. A couple dealers screwed up and used the wrong paperwork and set them up for a normal lease... so there are a few survivers that did get bought. The ones that were built were never meant to be a long term thing and there was no real drive for electric vehicles during the time period that the EV Ranger was built like there is now.
