Alright guys I have an 86 b2 that has a fresh built tranny blaw blaw blaw but what I'm really after is some more pictures I'm thinking of cutting out the outer skin of the light gate leaving about 3.5 inches all the way around the bottom and about 8 inches below the back glass I would like to see the skin of a lift gate with the interior molding off just so I can get a sense of how much metal I will need to remove for either an 8 shallow or a 10 super shallow.
For some who may he asking why am I cutting out the metal on the back. You see it is because if you have metal that close to the magnet it will make the sub work super hard to rebound and it will most likely over time distort the metal so I'm going to be putting aluminum diamond plate back there riveted in.
I would like to see some lift gates skins please or someone who has done something similar

Thank you all god bless and
Hooh yeaaaaaa NAVY

You are going to have to do something with the lift struts for the gate. An extra 30 lbs of mass is not going to hold up well

There is actually quite a bit of room under the hatch panel, there are basically 2 wells and a support in the center. I was getting annoyed with how much I could feel my spare tire on the roof rack making it more topheavy than it already is. Since its a dedicated trail rig I pulled the panel out of curiosity.

My spare wouldn't fit with the panel on, but with it off(yes its ugly and looks redneck) I can fit my 31x10.5 flat, and the hatch closes perfectly, basically form fit to the tire.

Oh, and for the lift struts, I know there is a company that custom makes them to your specifications. They just need to know length compressed and extended, and how much weight it needs to lift. They pressurize them accordingly. I'll try to find the again and post a link if I find them.
