What's the correct way to install the fluid line into the 87 slave cylinder? Put the little black gasket in the hole and try to push the fluid line nipple into the hole OR put the little black gasket on the nipple and then try to push both of them into the cylinder hole.

I put the o-ring on the nipple of the line and then into the hole. Then pushed it in hard enough to get the hitch pin in.

Is your slave cylinder the type with the hitch pin instead of the "quick release" fitting?

Yea, it's the nipple kind. I wish I could fab my bellhousing to fit the newer slave cylinder with the "Quick Disconnect" connecting that line is a real PITA.
