Simple 2/2 drop

I've been looking into lowering my 94 Ranger Splash. I use it as a daily, so I don't want anything too drastic. I have my Dodge Magnum for that.

I've done a few searches on here, and around the googlesphere. But I haven't really seen anything that is exactly what I'm looking for. I pretty much just want to take a couple of inches of the front and rear. I want to keep the factory rake (I know, I'm weird). Would a 2" drop in the front kill my alignment? Would I need a camber kit or would I still be within acceptable limits with such a small drop?

If such a kit exists, What would be the best one to go with? I have seen a few threads on flipping the shackles, but from what I can see, there isn't a good way to do this on this model.

ANY help is always appreciated.

2" Coil springs up front, and flip the shackles in the back. You will need adjustable camber eccentrics in the front, an alignment shop can install those when you take it for an alignment.

I don't know why you say the shackle flip won't work on your truck? If you're looking at the tech article in the tech archives, I'm sorry but the pictures are incorrect, I've asked before about having them changed.

Both ends of the leaf spring bolt directly up to a bracket that is riveted to the frame.

It has to have a shackle, it would ride extremely rough it didn't. Can you post pictures?

Yeah, I don't think he understands that the shackle is the flexy thing in between the spring and the riveted bracket.

Front and rear of the spring is mounted like this.

I wasnt sure if there was something different with the splash models. The rear does ride pretty rough. I just bought the truck a couple of months ago, so im still working my way around it. I guess its time to look into getting the correct shackles for it. Ill check out some of the links that were offered and see what I can come up with. Thanks!!

Gunslinger, can you stand on your rear bumper and make the back end move up and down by 6" or more?

If so, you have shackles.


If you didn't, then the back of the truck would barely move at all when you jump up and down on the bumper.

The reason rangers do ride rough in the back is because they are really light weight; so energy from bumps is quickly transmitted through the springs, then frame, then into the cab, rather than being soaked up by the springs and shocks.

Yes, the rear is very stiff. Almost no give at all. The rear shackle is not there. I'm no noob with cars. Or rangers. But my last Ranger was 15 years ago and a lot of the available parts didnt exist then. Most of the kits I have found online were a 2/3 leveling drop, and I want to keep the rake.

Like they said by some 2" lowering coils from a TRS vendor....and add some rear shackles while your doing the hangar flip.
