I've installed a new camshaft synchronizer using the alignment tool at #1 compression tdc (removed #1 spark plug, put finger in the hole and turned the crank until air came out then lined mark on harmonic balancer I0 with tab on crankshaft sensor) and after reinstalling it several times with the tool it came with, a Cardone tool I borrowed from AutoZone(both of which still allowed it to over clock a little), and by lining it up by eye I've think I've got it I go to start it and it idles rough. How critical is the perfect alignment? Is the rough idle related to the synchro? Help! I've got 10 hours on this.

Good work :icon_thumby:

I was going to suggest checking vacuum hoses and coil pack spark plug wires
that 465 side gets me alot

Yes, cam sensor(CPS) needs to be close but computer does adjust it's signal electronically for best performance

The Crank sensor(CKP) is the Big Kahuna timing sensor for spark and fuel injectors, CPS is for sequential injection and best fine tuning.
