Obviously put the tailgate damper on the passenger side and not the driver's side.

My youngest son's Wrangler recently did the same trick in the mountains in Colorado.

The Wrangler is easier to fix though

Problem was it didn't have red tow hooks. This is why you don't take a vehicle without red tow hooks offroad.
