Just an update, and because I read forums too and part numbers help.

Removed the locker and installed a factory limited slip carrier, and rebuilt with ford part # 6L1Z-4947-B, oem clutch set mustang1999-2014

Stacked factory style, 1994 ranger carrier and s spring, royal purple fluid, no additive, clutches soaked 1/2 hour.

Truck drives like a dream now. Smooth, positive bite when I need or want it, no jerking. Truck rides and drives beautifully.

A lunchbox locker on asphalt is f*cking horrible. IDGAF what anyone tells you, don't do it. It f*cking eats your tires and sucks to drive. Oh, and it ate two more tires before it left. A**hole locker...

i will NEVER repeat this mistake.


That said, I have a powertrax 1820-LR for sale, 6000 miles on it.

Locker fits 8.8, 28 spline, open carrier.

I have the donor axle here if any of you need stuff. Its a rebuild, and was the same price as just the carrier so I snagged the whole thing. Shafts are new, has sway bar, 3.73 open, new ring and pinion, plastic cover.

Ahhh crap nevermind I thought you had a 7.5. I'm not going through the hassle of putting an 8.8 in a damn pinto.

That tire wear is indicative of a bent rear axle housing (tires more worn on the insides). Not saying the locker didn't accelerate the wear (it does to some extent), but I think yours is a combination of issues.
