Removing Locking Pin on Spindle Auto Hub 93 Ranger 4x4

I'm going to attempt to remove the locking pin again. As my rotor and front brakes are shot now. Any more tips on removing this dam key. Lmk please.
Same as before. Maybe, now that it has had some time and vibration since your previous efforts, it might come loose.

Worse comes to worse I can Dremel out the area above slightly to get to that key better. I may do the manual hub modification down the road. I don't want to deal with this key issue anymore.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Considering that the rotor is smoked anyways I'd probably immideately pull out the big guns and start with the dremel.

Considering that the rotor is smoked anyways I'd probably immideately pull out the big guns and start with the dremel.
You think I should go to manual hubs now. So this doesn't happen again? I can get a pair on Amazon for $100 new, and that ain't bad. It says it fits my Year. Mine is a 93 Ranger.

I use a hard drive magnet. It isn't always easy but it always lets go, sometimes have to wiggle the spindle nut a bit

No. They're different. One big difference is the hole for the locking knob.

No. They're different. One big difference is the hole for the locking knob.
Do the manual hubs use a keyway also? Hopefully not, I'd rather not deal with the keyway any longer if necessary.

Do the manual hubs use a keyway also? Hopefully not, I'd rather not deal with the keyway any longer if necessary.
Before you toss any of it give me a holler :) I'd like to get some kind of a backup before anything has a reason to go wrong. I don't do any heavy rocking anyway, it's mostly all utilitarian

Question - Would a Dremel be able to cut a notch out on the Rotor to get to that Key, it's steel. Or would it be better using a small grinder?

We tried using a really strong rare earth magnet and it was useless.

The manual conversion uses the "keyway", but not a key like you are trying to remove.

First, to be clear; a "keyway" is a slot or "way" that a key fits into. The key is a piece that slides into the keyway on a shaft and also the keyway in a hub, gear, sprocket, etc. And links the 2 pieces (shaft and hub) together. The key is the piece you are trying to remove.

The manual hub uses a washer with a tab on it's inside hole. The tab slides in and engages the keyway (slot) on the shaft.

#2. In my opinion, a Dremel is too small of a grinder for the job. You shouldn't really have to grind the rotor. Just the lockout assembly where you need access to the key.

We tried using a really strong rare earth magnet and it was useless.
Really strong generally means "really big".
It needs to be strong but BIG will not fit in that hole
