Guys I'm trying to change my rotor on my 1993 Ranger 4x4 but I can't get that dang locking pin off to remove the big nut. Any ideas? Tried using a magnet and a pick. I sprayed break cleaner etc. No good. It's stuck in there. I tried moving the nut also. Still No good. Any advice.?

What's the worst that could happen?
looks like it is broken off...no way to grab it with needle nose or anything.
Have you tried tightening the nut to relieve pressure on the locking pin? Wouldn't take much.
A dremel with a cut-off disc to cut a notch across the end of the locking pin parallel to the hub if there is enough pin sticking out. Then use a flat blade screwdriver in the notch to try to pry/slide it out

Needle Nose definitely not. Tried tightening nut too. We tried everything but Thanks @rumblecloud . I left the old rotor on for now. But I will try your idea next time with a Dremel.

Removing that tab is a exercise in frustration.

I used a pair of dental picks and a magnet to coax it out when I swapped the auto hubs for manual ones on my Explorer. Its super aggravating when you get it about 25% out go for a better position and knock it all the way back in.

Yeah, I'm gonna try the Dremel and notch it slightly. There's no Rush now, I put the new ceramic break pads on. The Rotor actually wasn't too too bad. Maybe next time I'll give it a shot.

Try moving the nut a little, back & forth, My guess is that the nut has a little tension against that pin. Then use a small pick-up tool magnet. That what I remember about taking mine apart.

We tried turning that nut, using picks, and a very strong magnet etc.... It's broken off and stuck in there. I'm going to use a Dremel and make a notch when I attempt it again. The Rotor isn't that bad, it's a lil ruff on the inside of the rotor. But should be ok for the next 10-20k Mile's or so.

I remember fighting with these. Want to say I sprayed a lot of brake clean on it with the straw to try and flush as much grease out as I could, then it was a fight with picks and the strongest magnets I could get my hands on. Wiggle the nut the tiniest amount while working on it, etc. Huge pain. I don’t think I’ve ever put auto hubs back on after getting them apart.

Yup, I’ve fought broken and mangled before. Even the good ones can be a pain.

of course, I’ve also come across the manual hub nuts having a sheared off pin and a roofing nail used for a pin…

Crossed threads are tight threads.
Mine always slide right out with a magnet. I go back and forth on the nut till the magnet jiggles it out. Sometimes I give it a shot pf pblaster and/or use a bent pick to finagle it out.

I'm going to attempt to remove the locking pin again. As my rotor and front brakes are shot now. Any more tips on removing this dam key. Lmk please.
