Remove the bed by myself?

Has anyone removed the bed and reinstalled it alone? i don't have anyone around that can lend a hand and I want to flip the rear shackles and replace the fuel filler neck.

I was thinking I could jack it up a little, put some jack stands under the bed, remove the bolts/screws/harness, and then drop the truck back down and drive it out from under the bed.

that might work if you got any tree branches that u can rig some sort of pulley system to hold the bed in all 4 corners and drive out from under it then place on saw horse's that might work.

its not hard you got to slide the bed back over the rear bumper

I do it all the time with 4 hold down straps in my garage, there's one hanging down there right now. You have to get it pretty high to clear the mud flaps

I slide mine off the side using two 8' 2x4 as a slide. I put them under the bed, lifted/tilted it to one side and let the bed slide down the boards slowly. I know this doesn't help ya gte her back on, but off is easy LOL

Another time I used saw horses on either side, 2x4s, lifted braced lifted braced until high enough to move the truck - takes longer but can be done solo.

The best way would be with a cherry picker and some straps. They actually make a frame to do this with, but it's expensive. Throw a couple big pieces of cardboard between the cab and bed, so you don't scratch the paint.

I lift the body off my zuk this way with just me too.

I took the one off my f150 once by myself.

picked it up from the back and slid it back on the frame rail till it had a piviot spot in it.(think teter toter)....then layed out abunch of rags to not scrape up the paint.

then tilted it back and lifted the front of the bed straight up so it was standing up right.

same thing in reverse to put it back on by myself. ranger bed is about half the weight, and Im not a big guy, so you should have no problems by yourself with a ranger bed.

pulling the rear bumper will help alot too so its a straight slide

not the best way in the world, but if your stuck doing it by yourself...

I take my ranger bed off myself. Put a table behind the truck...crawl under and slide the bed back. I'm not a big fella either. Its not that bad.

It's pretty easy, I estimate the bed weighs 200 lbs? I did as someone said and pulled it back by hand until it was able to pivot on the end of the frame, like a teeter totter, then gently brought the end down to the ground on some rollers. Then picked up the side towards the cab and set it down on another set of rollers.

i did it bymyself a couple time before i put the fiberglass bedsides but it was kind of rough on the bed... but im kinda slow
