Just do yourself a favor and pick up a m5od. Its way tougher plus you get a bigger clutch.

Im actually not entirely certain which tranny i have because i have and 86 4x2 and in the transmission tech section i was looking around and it said i should have the fm tranny

You can out a m5 on it tho. 2.9 and 4.0 have the same bolt pattern.

Well im not sure if i was reading the tech sevtion wrong entirely (have that kind of habit) but i have an 86 4x2 2.3liter

Should be able to pick up a m5od from a later year 2.3 and it should bolt up.

i have a 96 with a 5 speed manual the front bearing went out so i found one out of an 88 it bolted right up and works fine.
