Rear shock question

I have a 1-1/2 inch (leveling) lift on the front of my Ranger and am getting ready to buy the rear shocks. The rear is stock with no lift. The rear springs are new - not that that would make a difference other than they are not sagging from age. But should I buy rear shocks based on the 1-1/2 inch front lift or buy regular stock length rear shocks?

If you plan to leave it at stock height in the rear... just use stock length shocks.

I recommend measuring the difference in height between the shock mounts with weight on all 4 wheels; then contact the shock manufacturer for the size/model shock to use.

If no companies will help, just call James Duff and give them the measurement and ask what size shock they recommend for the gap. If you really want to be happy...then purchase their 70/30 shocks also ..)

A 1-1/2" lift on the front will have little to no difference on the height of the rear. You might get a slight drop in height on the rear due to a slight weight shift from the front lift. However, that would be basically not noticeable at 1-1/2" in the front.

I've have a 1-1/2" torsion bar lift on the front since it was new. I have replaced the rears twice over 270K miles and I have always used stock height Bilstein shocks, with which it came with from the factory.

Since the rear is stock height, you buy stock length shocks.
