Is there any difference between the balancer for different years the 2.9 was available.
When my son bought his 90 B2 the engine was in need of a refresh. Being a poor student he was just looking to do a ring/bearing/lifter/oil pump refresh. The cylinder wear was a bit too much so we bought a short block from a 90 B2 that had an automatic. I noticed the heads on his original engine were the old style so I am thinking that it was replaced at some time with an older engine.
The problem he is having is the engine has a vibration when it approaches 3000 rpm. So my thought is, perhaps the balancer on the older 2.9 on a manual truck is different then the balancer on a newer 2.9 on an automatic truck. I am not sure which balancer was put back on when it was finished.
Any ideas?
