So under the hood my 85 ford ranger there is a mess of wires and computers and everything seems to be just to run my carb properly and allow it to idle right. Is there a way to replace this carb with the electric choke for a mechanical one or can I simply replace all of these components with mechanical ones and what are some of the pros and cons of doing so?

Is the distributor electronic?

If it is...its a feedback like the 2.8's...so i would imagine it would be like durasparking a 2.8...Pinto carb/Pinto distributor/Pinto control box...in a nutshell.

If the distributor is vaccuum should be able to hook up a 2.0 carb from a pinto and block off any non important vaccuum ports and go.

Im not at all familiar with the 2.0 though
