This is the truck on 40" gumbos, ill be running 38.5 gumbos which measure out to be the same size as the 40's becuase of the amount of tread, when all is said and done itll have about 15" total of lift without cutting the fenders

mhughes165, what is your main diet of wheeling? What sort of wheel travel do you plan on/expect?

the 38"s are considerable narrower, the main diet of wheelin for this truck will be as a trail runner and mud truck, i understand the need to cut the fenders for max flex in a rock style enviroment, and if i rub doing what i want todo with the truck then cutout flares it is, but i just dont do the kind of wheelin that i have to worry about full wheel travel

nope, it's a HP D44 out of a 79 F-250. Narrowed to waggy width, about 12 degree cut and turn and 6 lug chevy flat tops.

The red one is mine. It is on 37's with 8" of lift. They rub quite a bit, a little trimming might fix it but I think 35's might fit a little better

^^that's what I wanted to see.....I'm going up 2 more inches which will give me a total of 9" and I was looking for the biggest tire size I can get...wishful thinking on my part to try and run either 38" tsl's or 38" hawgs....

38" hawgs will fit fine on the truck with 9" of lift, 38" hawgs ALWAYS measure small

however, his truck will not be a good comparison for yours, seeing as later years always had a MUCH larger opening for the tires in the fenders
