The "parts truck" is a 84. And I am not sure if I want to part it out. Is your truck a long bed, with duel tanks?
It is a longbox but a single tanker. I always thought it would be clever find a dual tank box and mount an air tank where the second tank/spare tire was supposed to go and have an air chuck behind the second door.

Longboxes are hard to find. Most are shortboxes or scabs... both of which use the same box.

Any new developments on the BII's?

Not much to report. Just been tinkering on the 88. Had a leaky o-ring on a fuel injector so I replaced all the o-rings on them. Guy put in new injectors...but used the old o-rings...strange.
Picked up the new clutch kit lastnight and will get the throwout bearing and slave today. Then start replacing that when the time allows.
Once I get the 88 done, then I will start teardown on the 85 crawler project.

Update: the 88 (red and white in previous pictures ) is running great. Converted the AC over to the new stuff. New clutch kit, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulater, valve cover gaskets, and a battery.
AC blows ice cold, and even the cruse control works!
I just put it up for sale lastnight. If any member here is interested I'm asking $2,600 obo... located in Clearwater, Ks
Shoot me a PM.

I cant believe it's been 3 years since i picked up the BII. I had my son ( he's 7 years old) start tearing into the BII. He was having a ball.
Got everything removed to replace the radiator support .... this is going to probably be a long project.
Probably need to move this thread off of general and into the build threads

I wish I could get my boy to work with me like that. He runs out of the garage covering his ears and screaming like a little girl every time the compressor kicks on.

My son is a huge gearhead. After watching roadkill episodes he's always wanting to tear into the Bronco. We are just now finally getting the time avaliable for projects.

Mine tells me he wants to work on stuff, but as soon as the power tools come out, or I open the air valve on the compressor he runs away terrified and won't go near the garage for a few days.

Have you tried earplugs for him? I know some kids can have issues with loud noises bothering them in a different way than it might bother us. I had a cousin that would go in to full melt down mode over a single firecracker when he was little. Doctors didn't understand his issue back then though.

I'm pretty sure that he is hyper-sensory, our daughter is diagnosed as hypo-sensory.

He has ear protectors, which he says makes the noise tolerable for him, the problem is he gets himself so psyched out that even with them I do more coaxing than working.

When I was a kid dad's skill saw drove me nuts.

His dry Craftsman air compressor still does. If it was mine I would build an outhouse type building for it to live in and run a hose and extension cord to the garage. Gawd that thing is terrible.

Yeah, Sensory Processing Disorder. my wife and son both have it. David generally likes to help out but gets bored quickly and ends up getting the bike out. ADHD as well.. also through in a little bit of Asperger's syndrome and those sensory and adhd can combine and really cause issues.... I have had him help put things in and bolt things down tho, even got a few videos and he has told me a few times that he wants my Ranger when he gets older. (he is 8 right now)

ADSM, sensory issues to the degree that your boy has might be a symptom of Aspergers/ Autism Spectrum. after looking into it deeper and with other "non neurotypical" behaviors, we had him screened, and after being diagnosed w/ Aspergers, it explained a lot. but he would (and still does at times) scream out in loud situations. he doesn't like my compressor either, but at least now does not run away from it.
