There is the fact that some of the lines were replaced a few years ago and the the truck has been out of the road salt zone since before those lines were replaced. They look good, except the flex lines to the front brakes. I'll replace any that are rusted.

My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
I don't think your old stuff is useable either, but maybe it's not as bad as it looks.

If you're going to break those old fittings loose, using a flare nut wrench will give you a lot better shot at it than a standard open-end:

Hose them good with a good penetrating oil for as long as you can before you try breaking them loose.

Just saying... it's really common. If any of it is questionable... do it now or you WILL be doing other places later.

It's also one of the worst feelings ever when you need to brake and the pedal goes to the floor

My first Ranger was given to me by a young man I didn't even know, he just wanted it gone.
He was a physics major at Nashville's Vanderbilt University with a wife and baby.
It had a new factory Ford engine in it, the rest was a minnesota rust bucket.
I spent the first two months with it up on jack stands and me underneath it with a chipping hammer and wire brush.

I found a brake line that had been "repaired" with about 3 ft of rubber line and two hose clamps.
He likely got in a jam with that brake line while his wife and baby were onboard, likely why he had "just wanted it gone"
